St Mark’s Kids

We long to see children in Mitcham encounter Jesus, know God’s love and be His light in the world

In Sunday Club sessions we sing, play games, do craft activities, read Bible stories – and have a whole lot of fun!

We have a group for children in school years Reception to Year 6 at our morning service. We also have an unmanned crèche for under 5s with a variety of toys. Both groups meet in the church hall.

Sunday Children’s Groups

Every Sunday, during the main service, the kids and youth head out to their groups and they return to take Holy Communion as a family.

On the last Sunday of the month, we have an All-Age Service at 10:15am.

We do lots of other activities too!

  • Every Easter and summer we look forward to Holiday Club… and last summer our theme was SUPERHEROES!

Our next Holiday Club will be Easter 2026… so check back on this page nearer the time to sign up!

  • February means one thing… Pancake Day!

We celebrate Pancake Day every year, with competitions, games, and of course, plenty of pancakes to decorate and eat!

  • We host a stall for children at Mitcham Carnival in June, one of Merton’s biggest community events!

  • Remember, remember, the 5th of November…

Every year, we host some very excited kids at the church Vicarage for a bonfire, hot dogs, sparklers, hot chocolate and fireworks!

If you or you child have never been to St Mark’s before, if you’ve been a thousand times, we would love to welcome you any Sunday!

FAQs

  • Children start off with their families/ carer for the first 10 minutes of the Morning Service – and then head into our hall for their groups. Towards the end of the Service, the children and leaders come back in for the last few minutes.

  • We let families know about the content we’re looking at during a feedback slot in the service each Sunday. But every week we want to teach about the love of Jesus from the Bible in a fun way!

  • Your kids are more than welcome to stay and be a part of the gathering, but if your child is unsettled or you want some space for them, you can come with them into the creche in the main hall.

  • Our fantastic St Mark’s Kids Team! All of our staff and volunteers have been through our safer recruitment process, safeguarding training and have Enhanced DBS checks, and keep within the adult-children ratios set by the Church of England – so they’re in safe hands.

  • We want to make everyone feel welcome, so please let us know if your child needs a little support, and we can make sure they have a meaningful time.

The children’s group is led by team members who have many years of experience with children with a variety of additional needs so we would love to see you!

  • We have other special events throughout the year, such as Pancake Parties, bring-and-share lunches, Fireworks Nights, Holiday Clubs, Christmas parties and more!
